Out & About: Community Calendar of Events and Activities

I recently visited Eagle Valley Golf Course, and while chatting with administrative assistant Jean Bondiett, I learned about a great program.

The Eagle Valley Golf Tree Program helps replace trees that the golf course lost in December's gale-force winds. Bondiett said she recently received a large donation from Capital Beverages Distribution in memory of Herb Harbeson, who died Feb. 22. His wife, Doris, asked the community to make memorial contributions to the Eagle Valley Golf Tree Program.

The most amazing surprise for Bondiett was that Capital Beverages sent a check for , as she put it, "a whole grove" of trees. Harbeson owned and operated Capital Beverage until 1971. What a wonderful way to honor our loved ones and beautify our community at the same time.

Since we are close to St. Patrick's Day, I will write a check in honor of Patrick Leahy, who is greatly missed by family and friends. To join me or help sponsor a tree and have a bronze plague mounted on the low wall of the patio in memory of someone you love, send contributions to EVG Tree Program, 3999 Centennial Park Drive, Carson City NV 89706.

This is a nonprofit organization so all donations are tax deductible. Special thanks to Capital Beverage for its generosity that will continue to enrich our community.
