Obituary: Robert L. Smith

A funeral Mass for Robert L. Smith, Jr., 75, a Dayton resident for the past five years, will be at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Dayton.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

A graveside service will follow the Mass, with the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Association performing military honors at the Dayton Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died March 15, 2003, at home. He was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo., to Robert L. Sr. and Eula Keith Smith.

Before moving to Dayton, he lived in Cypress, Calif.

Mr. Smith served in the U. S. Navy during World War II in Guam as a storekeeper third class and in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, while stationed at El Toro Marine Base.

He was a past member of the American Legion Post 53 in Mound House, past scoutmaster for 30 years with the Boy Scouts in Cypress, Calif., and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, who died June 10.

Among his survivors are his sons Gary of South Lake Tahoe and Terry of Dayton; daughter, Mallorie Gould of Dayton; and seven grandchildren.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
