A carnival worker's claim that she was raped by a co-worker will be forwarded to the Carson City District Attorney's Office for review, an investigator said Tuesday.
Deputies talked to the victim, a 30-year-old Montana woman, in a friend's room at the Frontier Motel on Friday afternoon.
"She is saying that she was intoxicated Thursday night, went to bed in the co-workers trailer, passed out and when she woke up the next morning she found evidence that someone had had their way with her during the night," said Detective Richard Mendoza of the Carson City Sheriff's Department.
The woman told police the suspect was a 33-year-old Arizona man who also worked for Royal West Amusements -- the company hired by the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for their annual Mother's Day Carnival held in Mills Park over the weekend. The carnival was gone by Monday morning.
The man denied raping the woman and told investigators the sex was consensual, Mendoza said.
"No one was arrested because of conflicting statements," he said. "She even gave conflicting statements."
He said the case will be forwarded to the Carson City District Attorney's Office to determine if any charges will be filed.
