A celebration of life for Charles W. Makare resident of Carson City for the past 13 years will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.
Mr. Makare died May 20, 2003 at the Nevada Cares retirement Home in Carson City. He was born Dec. 27, 1912 in Sheboygan, Wis., to Casimir and Agatha Kudirka Makare.
He graduated from Illinois University with a Bachelor of arts degree in accounting and nearly earned a doctorate degree in music from Northwestern University.
Prior to living in Carson City he lived in Fairfield, Calif.
Mr. Makare was a member of the Musicians Union for 70 years. He was a Catholic.
Mr. Makare was a professional musician for more than 40 years and worked as an accountant and as a teacher. He played bass in the Sacramento, Napa, Vallejo Symphony and the electric bass fro the band Generation Gap in Carson City until 1997.
His hobbies include plying the bass, watercolors and stained glass.
Among his survivors are his daughter Pauline Bailey of Gardnerville; son and daughter-in-law George and Leslie Makare of Carson City; four grandchildren Jerry Makare of Reno, Deborah Martinez, of California and Charles and Douglas Sanborn of Illinois; and great-grandchildren Kristine, Steven, Heather all of Reno and Derek and Damon of California.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith. Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
