EDAWN kicks off food bank drive

The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada has kicked off a holiday membership food drive to support the Food Bank of Northern Nevada this holiday season.

EDAWN's goal is to surpass its previous record of 22,000 pounds of food that EDAWN and the former Tech Alliance raised in 2001.

EDAWN is calling on its more than 650 members and the public to participate by donating nutritious food items through Dec.

12.

Food items can include canned meats, fish and nuts, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, baby formula and food, canned meals such as stew, ravioli and chili, canned fruits and juices, dry cereal, oatmeal and coffee.

Last year, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada distributed 2.3 million pounds of food to more than 80 member non-profit agencies feeding more than 45,000 in the community.
