Missing woman's husband leaves for SoCal

The husband of a woman missing for more than two weeks is in Southern California with the couple's three children. Filberto Anguiano left on Tuesday, Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong confirmed on Wednesday. He could not confirm whether Anguiano's move was permanent.

Bertha Anguiano disappeared on Nov. 10. She was last seen at 8:30 a.m. that day talking with a man at Empire Elementary School, where she was dropping off a child. Her car was later found there by police, but her keys, purse and $3,700 in weekend receipts from her video store were missing.

About 70 minutes later, another her 3-year-old son Andrew was found wandering in the Smith's grocery store lot in Dayton, near Filberto Anguiano's work site.

Andrew was bleeding from the head and told investigators his mother had been killed, investigators said. He told them that Juan Carlos Tellez, a laborer with no fixed address, hit him and his mother and pushed them from a truck, Furlong said. Investigators say Anguiano had been having an affair with Tellez in recent weeks. Tellez, also known as Israel Tellez, was arrested in Salt Lake City on Nov. 21.

Bertha and Filberto Anguiano operated La Casita Video, a Spanish-language video rental store at 933 Woodside Drive. She ran the store and watched Andrew, while her husband worked on natural gas lines being installed on Highway 50 East.

Last week, Filberto Anguiano was at the store with his mother.

"I'm so-so," he said, when asked how he is feeling.

The store hasn't open for business since his wife's disappearance, he said.

"I'm just trying to get back as many of the videos people had checked out as possible."

He had sent his children to be with relatives in Oceanside, Calif., and was unsure whether he would remain in Carson City.

"Right now, everything's at a stand still," he said. "I haven't made any decisions."

He has cooperated with authorities and has not been considered a suspect in his wife's disappearance.

Investigators are examining the blue truck Tellez apparently drove to Salt Lake City and looking at blood samples taken from Andrew Anguiano.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Bertha Anguiano should call the Carson City Sheriff's Department at 887-2008.
