Granite helps restore part of Truckee River

Granite Construction Co.

has completed a contract with the Nature Conservancy to restore a section of the Truckee River.

The project covered 15 acres along one mile of the river beginning at McCarran Ranch Road located 15 miles east of Reno.

Project details included the construction of riffles and gravelbars for improved fish habitat and the excavation of wetlands according to the design by Otis Bay Riverine Consultants.

Over 18,000 tons of river rock has been placed in order to raise the water level and narrow the channel to its natural width.
