A graveside service for Carl Don Sam, 63, a lifetime Schurz resident, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Schurz Cemetery.
Mr. Sam died Oct. 5, 2003, at Washoe Progressive Care Center in Sparks.
He was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Schurz to Clyde and Frances "Willie" Sam.
He attended Schurz Elementary School and graduated from Yerington High School.
Mr. Sam was a long-time rancher in Schurz. He was a member of the American Quarterhorse Paint Association and the Schurz Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Lucille Sam Tom; and son Lloyd.
Among his survivors are his sons Don and Edward; sister Clara Castillo; nieces Maxine Emm and Yvonne French and nephews Michael Castillo, Kenneth Castillo Jr. and Galen Castillo, all of Schurz.
Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
