Jay M. Fonzo

A funeral for Jay M. Fonzo, 78, a Carson City resident for the past three years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Visitation will be from 4-6:30 p.m. Friday at Walton's with a rosary at 6 p.m.

Mr. Fonzo died Oct. 20, 2003, in Carson City. He was born Oct. 18, 1925, in the Bronx, N.Y., to John and Helen Must Fonzo.

He grew up in the Bronx.

Mr. Fonzo worked for "Ma Bell" for 37 years in New York City, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3476 in Seaford, N.Y. He enjoyed photography, loved to dance, made a great apple pie, and enjoyed traveling in his sports car.

He served in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and Gabrielle of Dayton; daughters Stephanie Fonzo of Carson City and Jo-Ellen Fonzo of Dayton; and grandchildren Hugh and Nicholas Fonzo of Dayton.

Burial will be in Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
