Hale Lane firm to move south from downtown

A major Reno-based law firm decided to move from downtown to the Meadowood area because it wasn't able to find enough space configured the way it wanted downtown.

Hale Lane will lease about 30,000 square feet in a building to be constructed in the MountainView Corporate Centre near the intersection of Kietzke and Del Monte lanes.

The building will be immediately west of the new Sun West Bank building.

The law firm currently occupies about 25,000 square feet at 100 W.

James Newman, a shareholder in Hale Lane, said the firm's current offices are on two separate floors the seventh and 10th and Hale Lane wanted better efficiency as it began looking for new quarters for its approximately 60 employees.

After spending several months examining possibilities, Newman said the company decided a build-to-suit office project provided the best answer.

And land for a new office wasn't available in the downtown area.

"The south corridor seemed the place to be," he said.

The 62,000-square-foot office building will be developed by Platinum First Properties LLC, which purchased the land from Templeton Development.

Brett Barker, managing partner of Platinum First, said the developer has a long-standing relationship with Hale Lane.

The law firm will occupy the second floor of the two-story office building.

John Pinjuv of Grubb & Ellis Nevada Commercial Group negotiated the lease agreement with Hale Lane.

He said last week much of the remaining first-floor space in the office building has been committed although none of the tenants are yet ready to go public with their decisions.

Pine Crest Construction will be the general contractor on the office building, which is scheduled for completion in April.
