Carson High School featured on national television

Director Tony McCuin informed a screaming crowd of high school students, "You guys aren't going to be on the show."

Cheers dissolved into a collective moan of disappointment.

But the swell of yells erupted again as he finished his sentence, "You guys are the show. So if you're comfortable going into 50 million households, we'll get this party started."

Crews from Fox Sports Net were at Carson High School on Monday afternoon to film an episode of the television show, "54321," which highlights extreme sports, from surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding to BMX biking and freestyle motorcross.

"Nothing ever happens here," said Erica Roth, 14. "Now, something finally did."

Then she screamed, "I love you, Wee Man."

"Who doesn't?" responded classmate Adrienne Sheppard, 16.

Jason Acuna, known as "Wee Man" to fans of MTV's Jackass, hosts the show along with model Leeann Tweeden.

Crowds swarmed the hosts, and sophomore Ahron Osheroff emerged victorious when Tweeden autographed his chest.

"She's beautiful, and I'm the luckiest man alive for getting that done," he bragged.

Although at times it appeared to be mayhem, McCuin reigned the students back in for the next set of directions.

The stage was temporarily stolen when a streaker, wearing only a T-shirt on his head, raced in front of the crowd.

The episode filmed at Carson High School will feature local motocross champion Matt Buyten, who captured a gold medal at this year's X Games.

Buyten, a 1998 Douglas High School graduate, performed a series of freestyle tricks along with fellow riders Derek Burlew and Brian Foster.

"I'm definitely into it," said Nick Maher, 14, who stayed after school to watch the demonstration. "I love it. It's loud, they get a lot of air, and they do cool tricks."

During the down time, high-schoolers Kyle Cahill, 15; Chris Earwood, 15; Aaron Chiazza, 16; and Justin Chiazza, 18, kept the crowd rocking with live music from their band Cabezudo.

It was the band's largest audience and its first national exposure.

"It makes me a little nervous, but it's really cool to get our band name out there," said Cahill, the lead singer. "It's the greatest thing to be able to play in front of your school and get discovered."

Principal Glen Adair said he was pleased to see the students enjoying their momentary fame but would be glad when the day was over -- especially the motocross demonstration.

"These guys are awesome, and they're obviously professionals, but it scares the heck out of me," he said. "They're getting off their bikes in midair."

The episode will air 5 p.m. Friday.
