Harley riders to trek through Monday

More than 600 Harley-Davidson riders will be moving through Nevada on Monday as part of the Harley Owners Group Posse Ride.

As part of a two-year journey, riders are touring 22 states west of the Mississippi River and will cover more than 4,600 miles.

Monday's leg will take riders from Ely to Reno "however they choose to go," said spokeswoman Carol Infranca.

Motorists are asked to be on the lookout for the motorcyclists.

"We just want people to know they're coming," said John Crowell, owner of Reno Harley-Davidson. "Sometimes when you're driving a car you aren't really looking for motorcycles."

From Reno, riders will head to Klamath Falls, Ore., on Aug. 10.

Next year's leg will cover the eastern states and complete the tour of the 48 contiguous states. Riders will have averaged 330 miles per day for 14 days when they arrive in Reno.
