EM Research adding employees as it brings outsourcing home

Business is good for EM Research, Inc., producer of high-performance frequency sources.

Over the coming year,Verdi-based EM Research expects to add six new people to its current staff of 20, says General Manager Scott Talbot.

The 13-year-old, privately held company, which Talbot describes as a $3 million firm, has been outsourcing to California.

Now it's bringing some of that work home to Verdi.

"Increased growth and demand is going to allow us to build our in-house capabilities," says Talbot.

Another piece of the growth puzzle is timing.

"We've moved from the prototype phase (on some the company's products) to higher quantity production," says Talbot.

The resulting expansion is across the board, with new hires in management, administrative and engineering staff.

The company's LX series of synthesizer is a large factor in EM Research's current growth, adds Talbot.

The LX and EM's other synthesizers are key building blocks in communication equipment.

Though he doesn't always know where the synthesizers will end up - his customers put EM parts into their products that then go into an end-product Talbot does know that EM parts are in some Lo-Jacks, the stolen car recovery system, and also in some European versions of tollbooth express car pass readers.
