Itronics plans Web site to sell data on mining

Itronics Inc.

of Reno said last week it's developing a subscription-only Web site

about the metals industry.

The site, insidemetals.com, will be operated by Whitney & Whitney Inc., a mining consultancy that's owned by publicly held Itronics.

John Whitney, president of Itronics, said the Web site will include financial and production data for mining companies.

The first sector to be included in the Web site gold, silver, platinum and palladium producers includes about 40 companies.

Whitney said Itronics also has developed a company-ranking system for the Web site.

He said the company expects that insidemetals.com will generate revenues both through subscriptions as well as consulting contracts.

Along with its mining interests, Itronics is involved in recycling of photographic chemicals into fertilizer products.
