Consumers take to idea of self-serve fitness center

Anytime Fitness brought a new franchise and a new fitness concept into northern Nevada when it opened its doors in September.

The question was this:Would the locals take to a 24/7 self-serve fitness a gym with no onsite staff, no cardio-kicking group sessions, and no juice bar? So far, they have, says owner Darryl Singh.

The 2,400-square-foot fitness studio at 18603 Wedge Parkway in south Reno, boasts 105 members."We're signing up about 30 members a month," says Singh,"and it's not even peak season." Singh hopes to have upwards of 500 members by this time next year and is scouting locations throughout the area for additional sites.
