The Commission on Judicial Selection has selected three finalists for the Reno family court vacancy created by the resignation of Charles McGee and three more for the seat vacated by Jim Hardesty, who has been elected to the Nevada Supreme Court.
The names of the nominees will be sent to Gov. Kenny Guinn who will make the two appointments.
The nominees for McGee's position are Reno lawyers Cassandra D. Campbell, 53, David A. Hardy, 40, and Myra A. Sheehan, 50, with Nevada Legal Services.
Sheehan was an unsuccessful candidate for a family court position during this past election cycle.
The three were selected from a list of nine applicants based on their applications, letters of reference, written public comments and responses to questions posed during interviews.
In addition, the commission selected Robert H. Perry, 61, Julien Sourwine, 65, and John Springgate, 45, all of Reno, as finalists for Hardesty's seat.
They were picked from a list of 17 applicants using the same criteria as used in selecting candidates to replace McGee.
Both of those who are eventually named to the judgeships will have to face election for the post at the next general election in November 2006.
