A Gardnerville man was seriously injured in an accident Thursday on Lakeview Hill.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the driver was southbound in a black Dodge Neon when he lost control on Highway 395 on the ramp from Lakeview.

Trooper Todd Hartline said the vehicle struck the west jersey wall, careened across a dirt divider, rolled once, and landed on its wheels facing the center jersey wall on the highway.

The man, who suffered a severe head injury and lost a considerable amount of blood, was conscious when help arrived. He was taken to Carson-Tahoe Hospital by ambulance then to Washoe Medical Center by helicopter. Hartline said he was not wearing a seat belt.

Southbound traffic into Carson City was backed up for about 90 minutes while the wreckage was investigated and cleared.
