'Local' job board? Others have pioneered the field for several years

I read with mild interest the article in the Jan.

5 issue of Northern Nevada Business Weekly entitled "Jobs Site Focuses on Local Market" in which Jennifer Rachel Baumer writes about what she portrays as something new for northern Nevada a local job board.

Ms.

Baumer presumably failed to conduct any research prior to writing the article because, in addition to the more than $1 million spent to date on radio advertising for RenoHelpWanted.com, the Website appears first in a Google search for "help wanted in Reno." (The same online search produces many more "local" job boards while workreno.com fails to appear anywhere except in the section that is reserved for paid listings.) Regardless of whether or not workreno.com proves to be a viable job board, it is certainly not the first nor the only.

RenoHelpWanted.com has been operating in northern Nevada for more than four years and, during that time, many thousands of local employers and job seekers have found success using it.

It's good to see another job board enter the business arena.

A large share of employment advertising continues to appear in daily newspapers and we welcome every opportunity to educate prospective customers as to the efficiency, effectiveness and economy of using online job boards.

However, what workreno.com provides is hardly new or unique.

In fact, the entire model is suspiciously similar to that of RenoHelpWanted.com and the 270 other job boards that our company operates throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.

While I am certain that the owners of workreno.com are delighted by the free publicity you have given them, it seems that your readers would have been far better served had the piece accurately portrayed the availability of a plethora of "local" job boards in the northern Nevada marketplace.

Thank you for allowing me to set the record straight.
