Virginia Grace Bartlett

Thirty-year Carson City resident Virginia Grace Bartlett, 85, died Feb. 9, 2004.

Born in East Jordan, Mich., on Sept. 8, 1918, to Ira and Grace Kowalski Bartlett, she graduated from East Jordan High School in 1936 and graduated from Argubright Business College in Battle Creek, Mich.

Mrs. Bartlett married Lawrence J. Zacharias on Sept. 8, 1940, and moved to California soon after. She lived there until 1970.

She worked in several positions as private secretary and retired from the state of Nevada in 1987 after 16 years.

Mrs. Bartlett was an accomplished artist and completed a collection of drawings and oil paintings. She also wrote inspirational poems and prose and published in "A Lamp Held High." She loved people and nature.

Mrs. Bartlett was preceded in death by her brothers Norm and Bruce; sisters Lucille Pratt and Byrnece Bartlett; son Gregory J. Zacharias; and ex-husband, Lawrence J. Zacharias.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Gail C. and David E. Green of Fontana, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Louise L. Zacharias of Carson City; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Inurnment will be in the Bartlett family plot in Sunset Hill Cemetery in East Jordan with a private family service later this year.

Cremation is at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
