A big thank you to Jim and Janie Dunn, former owners of Xpressions Custom Embroidery, for all they have given to our community for the past 15 years. The Dunns gave discounts to orders that had to do with Carson School District, especially to the Carson High football program.
New owners Shellie and Rich Stewart have continued the tradition. Shellie's latest gift will help parents or grandparents thinking of getting a letterman or -woman's jacket for a child. Shellie is giving 10 percent off each jacket purchased before May 15. Show your student body card and receive a discount when you're being fitted. The discount also applies to Douglas High School, the Dayton Dust Devils and surrounding schools. Shellie is also giving a discount on four jackets to be given to CHS students for good sportsmanship, academics or athletics.
Speaking of football, the Carson Senators are on the move. Registration is set for the 2004 season of Carson City Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading. If you're interested in coaching football or cheerleading or want to volunteer to help Carson City Pop Warner, go to the Web site for applications.
The Republican Women's Club of Carson City will hold a traditional St. Patrick's Day Dinner at the Carson City Nugget. Stop in for corned beef plus Irish music. There will also be a silent auction, a white elephant raffle and an opportunity to win a wheelbarrow full of wine and spirits. Reservations are required.
Joining the Capital City Community Band in a concert will be two elementary school choirs, the Seeliger Singers and the Fremont Honor Choir, lead by Mary Law and Sandra Irvin.
The monthlong book drive is ready to go. SBC Telecom Pioneers of Northern Nevada coordinator Lee Radtke says he's received 300 books. He would like to match last year's amount of 2,300. Clean out your children's books for needy Carson children. The books also help after-school reading programs
If your little princess loves to watch ballerinas, the Spotlight Cup Dance will be here locally showcasing young dancers.
At Western Nevada Community College Wednesday, winners from local school science fairs will display their innovative creations for advancement to the regional level at Lawlor Events Center.
