Pfizer acquires land near center

Pfizer Inc.

is in the process of buying additional land around its logistics center in south Reno, but hasn't determined if it will expand its Reno operations.

The logistics center at 1025 Sandhill Drive in South Meadows serves as the company's West Coast distribution hub for pharmaceutical and animal health products.

The 150,000-square-foot facility opened in late 2000.

A spokesman for Pfizer, which is based in New York City, said the company is reviewing its logistics operations in light of its acquisition last year of Pharmacia Corp.

After that acquisition, Pfizer is the world's largest pharmaceutical company.
