Waterfall fire information

Today

A town hall meeting has been set for 9 a.m. today and Sunday at the Carson City Community Center to brief residents on the Waterfall fire. Officials from the Carson City Fire Department, Nevada Division of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service will be on hand. The community center is at 851 E. William St. Call 887-2100.

Water

Residents can now return to normal water restrictions. Carson City's water supply has not been contaminated.

Firefighting Objectives

1) Protect life and property.

2) Keep the fire east of the Tahoe Rim Trail

3) Continue rehabilitation program.

Resource advisers are determining what needs to be done to begin restoring the ecosystem to a healthy state.

Evacuations in Kings Canyon, Lakeview, Timberline, Silver Oak and Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park backcountry.

Evacuation Centers

Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Road,

and Galena High School off the Mount Rose Highway.

1,000 residences, 75 commercial buildings and 100 outbuildings, Timberline and Lakeview areas of west Carson City, major power lines to Lake Tahoe, Carson City's water system, timber, wildlife habitat and historic resources.
