William "Bill" Brown of Sparks died July 11, 2004, in Tennessee of lung and heart problems. He was born Oct. 4, 1929, to Jerry and Lillian Carr Brown and grew up in the San Fernando Valley in California.
Mr. Brown was a meatcutter for more than 50 years. He worked at the Piggly Wiggly Market in Sunland, Calif., and several stores in the San Fernando Valley. He moved to Carson City about 30 years ago and worked for Butler Meat Co. in Carson City and Butcher Boy in Sparks.
He served in the armed forces during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Elona and Dewila "Dee" and brothers Loyal "Jim" and Everald "E.J."; granddaughter Melissa; nephews Robert Brown and Bruce Collier; and great-grand nephew Courtland.
Among his survivors are his daughter Robyn Brown; daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Mark Leniger; grandchildren Jake, Charlie and Tommy Leniger, all of Nashville, Tenn; four nieces; two nephews; five grand-nieces; four grand-nephews; and two great-grand-nephews.
The family will hold a private memorial.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
Eastland Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
