Floyd Roger 'Jiggs' Taylor

A funeral for Floyd Roger "Jiggs" Taylor, 76, a Carson City resident for the past 32 years, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1331 McKay Drive.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Mr. Taylor died July 17, 2004, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Boise, Idaho, to William R. Sr. and Florence Maud Winch Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was a licensed contractor in the mobile home industry for most of his life. He was a charter member of the Civil Air Patrol, attaining the rank of major and serving as commander for a few years. He helped organize the Eagle Valley Muzzeloaders Club. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and passed the wood badge.

He enjoyed flying, hunting, scuba diving, gold prospecting and helping the disabled. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Clearcreek Ward.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1954 during World War II.

Among his survivors are his wife of 55 years, Norma C.; son, Walter A. of Dayton; daughters Carol L. Firebaugh of Round Mountain, Teri L. Lawrence of Ione, Calif., and Patricia A. Harrison of Carson City; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers William R. Jr. of Carson City, Morris W. of Bakersfield, Calif., Jack B. of Franktown, Colo., and Thomas J. of Murietta, Calif.; sisters Mary Steigers of Lewiston, Idaho, Barbara Westfall of Star, Idaho, Patricia Braack of Aberdeen, Wash., and Susan Cox of Mountain Home, Idaho; and 33 nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
