Two people were arrested early Wednesday morning following a fight on Como Street that ended with a 22-year-old man being stabbed.
Joseph Hernandez, 20, a student from Carson City, was arrested at 1:25 a.m. on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and battery with a deadly weapon. Also arrested was 49-year-old Ronald Ray Jarrell, of Carson City, on suspicion of felony principal to assault with a deadly weapon and principal to battery with a deadly weapon.
About 9:45 p.m. Tuesday night, Como Street resident Mike Jensen said, he heard people running past his apartment window, then saw Kenny Rondeau stumbling east with blood dripping from him.
He said when Rondeau lifted his shirt to show Jensen the wounds, the construction worker collapsed onto the sidewalk.
Jensen said there were at least two wounds to Rondeau's chest and a third to his wrist.
As Jensen tried to stop Rondeau's bleeding, his daughter called police. Rondeau survived his injuries. His condition was not available Wednesday evening.
"I grew up in inner-city Detroit where this is common," Jensen said at the scene Tuesday night, his hand covered in Rondeau's blood. "But Como Street is usually arguments and fights. Nothing like this."
According to a police report, a witness said he and a friend were standing at the corner of Como and Carson Meadows when a white van with California plates drove by and someone inside shouted a threat out the window. The witness said another friend ran to confront the van, and he and Rondeau followed. Hernandez then got out and allegedly lunged with a knife. The witnesses escaped injury, but Rondeau was cut.
Police located the van in a parking lot in the 400 block of South Saliman Street and witnesses directed them to an apartment.
After obtaining a search warrant, police entered and arrested Hernandez and Jarrell who were identified as being the driver of the van and the assailant.
Hernandez is being held on $40,000 bail. Jarrell's bail is set at $10,000.
