Pauline Mary Schwamb

A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Pauline Mary Schwamb at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church, 1138 Wright St. in Reno.

Mrs. Schwamb died July 22, 2004, at South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington. She was 90. She was born March 1, 1914, in Virginia City.

Mrs. Schwamb grew up in Virginia City and graduated from the Fourth Ward School where she participated in basketball and track. After high school she attended business school and then worked in accounting for many years.

As a young woman she enjoyed horseback riding, participating in several Reno Rodeo parades. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and her friends.

Mrs. Schwamb was a member of the Mounted Civil Air Patrol.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin G., sisters, Ellen L. Ross of Reno and Stella A. Benioff of California, and a daughter, Jacquelyn Bares.

Among her survivors are her son Raymond Pierre Bares of Virginia City; niece Elaine Torneo of Yerington; cousin Mike Metkovich of Reno; stepdaughters Hildegard Howell of Bonair, Va., Rosalinde Gueivin of Elk, Wash., and Elizabeth Dodson of Reno; and stepson Fred Schwamb of Reno.

Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church or a charity of choice.

Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington is in charge of arrangements.
