A memorial service for L. Dean Kastens, 81, an Idaho resident for many years, will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 11 at Saint Stanislaus Chapel in Rathdrum, Idaho.
Mr. Kastens died June 23, 2004, at Pinewood Care Center in Coeur d Alene, Idaho. He was born April 6, 1923, in Anthony, Kan., to Hermie and Lissie Kastens.
He served for 37 years in the parks and recreation field in Kansas, Colorado, Nevada and California. After retiring, he spent his last years on the North Kootenai Water District. From 1963-67, he was a state parks administrator in Carson City. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Among his survivors are his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; brother, William; eight children; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
