Here is a tour of Lyon County in a day.

We started south of Gardnerville at the junction of highways 395 and 208 and ended in Dayton, traveling over Jack Wright Summit near the West Walker River to Wellington and Smith Valley.

We went from Mason Valley along Highway 95 past Weeks to Highway 50 at Silver Springs, after a side trip to Fort Churchill, then west on Highway 50 to Stagecoach, Dayton and back to Carson City.

Here are a few of the photos we chose to share. More can be found online at www.nevadaappeal.com.

Lyon County's population increased 5.3 percent this year to 41,417, and is expected to increase to 74,281 by 2024.

As residents go about their daily lives and developers work to bring progress, it is easy to forget this booming growth is taking place in several of Nevada's most picturesque valleys.
