Minden hosts concert

Take a picnic lunch and enjoy an evening of music at beautiful Minden Town Park.

The 2004 Summer Family Concert Series continues the series tonight with the John Stewart Trio, sponsored by Bing Materials, Stockdale Creative Marketing and Valley Door Works.

Opening for Stewart at 6 p.m., will be the Minden Elementary School Choir, an after-school club that's ready to make their debut.

Stewart has spent a lifetime writing and recording songs that chronicle the unique people and culture that is America.

Stewart first recorded an album at the age of nineteen and has had several of his songs record by the Kingston Trio. John later joined the Kingston Trio, which released sixteen albums.

Hits include, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," "Mr. Black" and "Greenback Dollar."

In recent years Stewart's songs have been recorded by Roseanne's Cash, Joan Baez, The Four Tops and others.

Don't miss the concert plays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is free of charge due to the support and donations of local businesses and organizations.
