Woman hurt when car goes off corner

A Berkeley woman was recovering Sunday at Washoe Medical Center in Reno after suffering a head injury when the car she was riding in Saturday afternoon went off the road near Emerald Bay.

Sun Young Kim, 31, was ejected from the back of the southbound-headed 1999 Toyota Corolla, which didn't make the 10 mph corner in time. It went off the road and became lodged between some trees and boulders about 75 feet off the embankment.

Kim was not wearing her seat belt, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A male driver and Kim's 13-month-old baby, who were both strapped in, suffered minor cuts.

The accident occurred at 3:37 p.m. south of Eagle Point Campground.
