A Mass of Christian burial for Iris Fayne Francoeur of Carson City will be 1 p.m. March 20 at Our Lady of Tahoe Catholic Church, W. Elk Point Road, Zephyr Cove. A reception will follow in the church hall.
Mrs. Francoeur died Feb. 19, 2004, at home. She was born Dec. 2, 1912, in Midfield, Texas, to William and Inez David Spurgeon.
She graduated from San Diego High School in the early 1930s.
She married Joe Francoeur in San Diego in 1937.
Mrs. Francoeur held many management assignments with Sears Roebuck and Co.. She culminated her career in the 1930s by being recognized as the first woman in the Pacific Coast Territory to receive the Five Star Award of Excellence.
She was baptized into the Catholic faith at age 55 and became a member of Our Lady of Tahoe parish. She was one of the original members of the ladies' guild. She was involved with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, fund-raising and parents clubs of Catholic schools, the Republican Women and hospital-related auxiliaries. She enjoyed sewing and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Joey; brother, Gene; and sister, Isabel.
Among her survivors are her children and their spouses Joe and Judy Francoeur, Jeannette and Bob Evans, Mike and Kittie Francoeur and Steve Francoeur; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at the Genoa Cemetery.
