Norma 'Elaine' Fahy Young

A graveside service for Norma "Elaine" Fahy Young, a Gardnerville resident for the past 10 years, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Eastside Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Young died March 13, 2004, at her home of cancer. She was born in San Francisco to Kearce and Dorothy Fahy.

She graduated from Washington High School in San Francisco in 1951.

She married John Young in 1951 and they lived in Daly City, Calif. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Mrs. Young was a housewife. She led Girl Scout troops between 1964 and 1969 and served on committees for the San Francisco Bay Area Girl Scout Council.

She attended the Christian Church of the Valley for the past five years.

Among her survivors are her sister, Dorothy Mayes of Salem, Ore.; daughters D. Laine Young of Portland, Ore., and Paulette Y. Ferrando of Gardnerville; son, Richard K. of Stockton, Calif.; grandsons Patrick Ferrando and Philip Ferrando; and a niece and nephew.
