Andrew Clayton Sayre

A funeral for Andrew Clayton Sayre, 81, of Smith Valley will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Valley United Methodist Church, 44 Rivers Road.

Mr. Sayre died April 30, 2004, at home. He was born May 1, 1922, in Wellington.

Mr. Sayre was a farmer and a rancher in Smith. He was named Conservationist of the Year two times by the Smith Valley Soil Conservation District.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed photography. He was a former member of the Smith Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

Among his survivors are his wife, Letha Arlene, formerly from Smith, now living in the Dr. Mary Wing of South Lyon Medical Center; sons and daughters-in-law Raymond and Emma Allen of Yerington and Stanley and Deborah Allen of Phoenix; daughters and sons-in-law Lois and Rodney Baker of Meadview, Ariz., and Gina and Rangal Yorks of Sparks; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Smith Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
