Links of psychology, disease to reviewed at UNR sessions

The University of Nevada, Reno will host "Psychological Approaches to Disease Management," a two-day conference to address effective clinical protocols for chronic disease management.

Among subjects to be covered during the conference May 21-22 will be the importance of psychology and behavioral interventions to reduce treatment costs and improve self-care behaviors, psychosocial functioning and quality of life.

Keynote presenter will be Ronald Levant, president-elect of the American Psychological Association, who will speak on the role of disease management in the future of psychology.

The conference will include a series of workshops for healthcare practitioners, primary care physicians, nurses, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, social workers and the public.

The conference is sponsored by the University of Nevada, Reno Department of Psychology, Extended Studies and the Nicholas and Dorothy Cummings Foundation.
