Requests for relocation info keep growing

The interest among folks who want to move to Reno shows no signs of letting up.

Through the first four months of this year, the number of requests for informational packets from the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce was running at a pace more than 25 percent higher than year-earlier figures.

Through April, the chamber fielded 548 requests for personal relocation packets.

In all of 2003, the number was 1,304.

And that figure was up from the 1,251 requests in 2002, said Pamela DuPre of the chamber's staff.

The personal relocation packet includes maps, information about real estate and other publications.

Requests for business-relocation packets, meanwhile, are running about even with last year's figures.

For the first four months of the year, the chamber reported mailing 45 business packets.

If that pace keeps up, the year's total will be about 135 compared with 123 last year.

In 2002, the number was only 84.
