Soroptimists Club seeking members in Dayton

If you are interested in forming or joining a Soroptimist Club in Dayton, attend a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at 34 Lakes Blvd., Dayton.

Depot Casino hosts fourth community yard sale

The Depot Casino will hold its fourth annual Community Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Anyone in the Dayton community is welcome to call and reserve a free space for selling their items. The Depot Casino is at 755 Highway 50 East, Dayton. For information or to reserve space, call 246-9696.

Volunteer attorneys tee up for golf tournament

Volunteer Attorneys for Rural Nevadans is holding The VARN Scramble Golf Tournament and Raffle, Saturday at the Dayton Valley Country Club.

Shotgun start is at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $100 per player and includes green fees and cart, range balls, player package and bag lunch.

VARN is a nonprofit organization which provides free civil legal services for people with low-incomes in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, Churchill and Storey counties and VARN's Domestic Violence Victim's Assistance project provides free civil legal assistance to domestic violence survivors and abused and neglected children throughout central and Northern Nevada's rural communities. Area youth to perform on APPLAUSE news feature

See six outstanding teen performers from Carson City, Dayton, Reno and Douglas County are on a new television feature, "APPLAUSE!" This special feature can be seen as part of Kids 'n Focus News, which airs weekly from 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays on Channel 10 in Carson City, Channels 26 and 19 in Douglas County and Channel 16 in Washoe County.

Performers will be: John Scott, violin student of Jack O'Neill, from the Carson Valley Violin School; Drew West, clarinet, from Wooster High School and TMCC concert and jazz bands and the Reno Youth Orchestra and Youth Chamber Orchestra; Mollie Carr, viola student of Virginia Blakeland, a regular member of the Reno Philharmonic and featured soloist for the Carson City Symphony and the Reno Philharmonic; Helen Kim, violin student of Phillip Ruder, regular member of the Reno Philharmonic and piano student of James Winn; Nevada Performing Arts Ensemble, "the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," produced by Leslie Bandy; and Alice Sady and Julie Miller of the Carson Valley Young Chautauquans.
