Library group seeks crafters for holiday fair

The Friends of the Dayton Valley Library is collecting information on crafters interested in having a booth at the 17th annual Christmas Gift Fair and Book Sale Nov. 20 and 21.

The fair will be at Dayton High School with setup on Nov. 19. Booths are $50 and $75 for two days.

All interested vendors should call 246-3910 to obtain an information packet.

Seniors can pick up free dog food at Dayton center

The Silver Springs Spay-Neuter Project will distribute free dog food at 10:30 a.m. today at the Dayton Senior Center, 320 Old Dayton Valley Road. The program is available to senior citizens only. Information on the spay and neuter process will be available.

Ins and outs of controlling noxious weeds

Learn to identify and control nuisance and noxious weeds at a free presentation by Wendy Hanson, Master Gardener coordinator, University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, from 10-11:30 a.m., Thursday at the Carson City Senior Center. Hanson will discuss what makes a weed a "noxious" weed, how to identify the most common weeds in our area, and the most effective control methods for each. The presentation is sponsored by University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and the Carson City Senior Center Garden Club. For information, call Peggy Hill at 884-2132.

The Master Gardener program, as part of University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, trains local gardeners and works with them to disseminate safe, effective gardening information to their communities. Diabetes program offered by hospital

Carson-Tahoe Hospital will offer a Diabetes Education Program from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 17 and 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 18.

Each person attending must have a physician's referral to attend; class days are subject change. Content includes diabetes overview, nutrition, behavior changes, heart disease and other topics. Most insurances are accepted, you must pre-register to attend.
