Hearing postponed for accused embezzler

A hearing for a Carson City woman accused of embezzling nearly half a million dollars from First National Bank of Nevada was postponed so the defense attorney could tend to an ailing relative.

Susan Dequire, 44, has been in custody since her arrest April 24 on four counts of embezzlement.

According to a complaint, Dequire allegedly embezzled $469,251 from four accounts between Dec. 1, 2002, and April 24, 2004. Of the total, $428,109 came from one elderly woman's account, $24,746 from another account, $7,396 from the third and $9,000 from the fourth.

"The said defendant took cash out of (the accounts) while working as the assistant manager at the First National Bank of Nevada and diverted said money into her personal account," the complaint reads.

From another account she allegedly cashed a certificate of deposit and altered a deposit slip.

Dequire remains in the Carson City Jail on $200,000 bail.
