Two Carson City men suspected of up to 20 car burglaries pleaded guilty Friday to lesser charges.
Thomas Thornhill, 26, and Tracer Harmon, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of principal to auto burglary and one count of possession of stolen property.
In exchange for the pleas, the District Attorney's Office agreed to drop four counts of possession of stolen property and a charge of attempted grand larceny of a motor vehicle.
Both could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.
According to an arrest report, Harmon and Thornhill were arrested April 19 in the 3200 block of Imperial Way when they allegedly tried to steal a decoy vehicle being watched by police.
Police recovered from the men a set of keys for various models of cars, gloves, flashlights, screwdrivers and car titles.
Thornhill allegedly had a bag containing checks and identification reported stolen in car burglaries.
Inside his van parked nearby, police found several car stereos, and duffle bags - all items believed to have been stolen in car burglaries that prompted the sting operation, said Sgt. Bob White.
He said more evidence incriminating the two in the car thefts was found at Thornhill's Poole Street address.
Both men remain in jail on $50,000 bail.
