Matthew Craig Sawyers, 25, a Taylorsville, Utah resident, died May 28, 2004. He was born Dec. 2, 1978, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Don M. Sawyers and Thelma Stapley.
Before moving to Taylorsville, he lived in Carson City and Sandy, Utah.
Mr. Sawyers was an artist, a builder of models and an avid Oakland Raiders fan.
Among his survivors are his fiancée, Laura Makin, and son, Damien James, both of Taylorsville; father of Tabiona, Utah; mother and stepfather, Thelma and Boyd Stapley of Las Vegas; brothers and sisters Christopher Don Sawyers, Mary Sawyers, Joanie Whitherby, Jennie Sawyers, William Reed Sawyers, Celeste Stapley, Kurtis Stapley, Jennifer Jenkins, Misty Potter and Tiffany Reynolds.
A funeral was held June 1 in American Fork. Burial will be in the American Fork Cemetery. Anderson & Sons Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
