Truck crunches Gardnerville home

A semi-truck collided with a house at Highway 88 and Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The accident resulted in minor injuries to the truck driver and a scare for the cleaning crew inside the home at 903 Waterloo Lane.

Jackie Wight of Super Clean Team said she was working in the kitchen when she saw the truck barreling toward the house.

The truck hit the house's corner while trying to avoid another motorist, witnesses said.

Wight said the driver of the truck was pressed up against his steering wheel. The cleaners gave him a cool compress and moved the steering wheel up so he could breathe.

"He said he was going to be OK when they put him in the ambulance," Wight said.

The truck damaged the corner of the house, pushing it in several inches.

Other than the driver, no one was hurt.

The Cinderlite truck was southbound when a motorist pulled out crossing Highway 88 heading east, witnesses said.

The driver of the car stayed at the accident scene and spoke with Nevada Highway Patrol troopers.
