Taxpayers coalition to discuss El Dorado general plan

Four town hall-style meetings, including one at South Shore, have been scheduled for county residents who wish to learn more about the 2004 El Dorado County general plan.

The meetings are hosted by the El Dorado County Taxpayers Coalition for Open Roads and Quality Neighborhoods, a countywide coalition that includes taxpayer advocates, business leaders, fire chiefs, farmers, planning experts and conservationists.

The general plan requires developers to pay for traffic improvements; imposes strict controls on new growth; requires long-range transportation planning to prevent gridlock; ensures abundant supplies of clean, affordable water; and limits the number of new apartment complexes that can be built.

A town hall meeting will be held in South Lake Tahoe Dec. 9 at the Lake Tahoe Airport, 1901 Airport Road, beginning at 7 p.m.
