Granite Construction completes largest project

Granite Construction Company last week said it's completed a $105 million project for the California Department of Transportation covering 12 miles of Interstate 80 from Truckee to Floriston.

The project is the largest job on record for Granite's Nevada operations.

The rehabilitation project began April 2001 and was completed September 14.

Work included the removal and rebuilding of 12 bridges, widening of the roadway to include emergency shoulders, chain-up areas, deer crossings to allow wildlife to safely cross the road and the placement of 270,000 tons of asphalt concrete and 170,000 cubic yards of concrete pavement.

The project management staff included project manager,Matt Franz, project engineer Brian Roll, field engineers Brian McClure, Marty Powers and Jody Solmonsson and project superintendent Marty Kite.
