Dorothy M. Hawkins

A memorial Mass for Dorothy M. Hawkins, 86, of Gardnerville will be at 2:30 p.m. today at St. Gall Catholic Church.

Mrs. Hawkins died Oct. 3, 2004, at Carson Valley Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 5, 1917, in Harvey, N.D., to George and Cecilia Dressen Peters.

She graduated from Harvey High School in 1936.

She had lived in the Minden-Gardnerville area since 1978, coming from Los Angeles.

Mrs. Hawkins owned and operated cafes in Los Angeles for 16 years.

She moved to Torrance, Calif., and owned Brodies Cafe for 16 years.

She played in bridge clubs in Gardnerville, and she enjoyed bowling. She was a member of St. Gall.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tony Brodie; second husband, William Hawkins; and brother, Donald Peters.

Among her survivors are her daughters Edith Kyriakopoulos of Carson City and Rita Phillips of Minden; niece, Linda Willer and nephew, Donald Peters Jr., both of Winnemucca; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

An inurnment service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Winnemucca Cemetery.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
