According to a recent press release by the Nevada Department of Wildlife, the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners is seeking nominations for the Wayne E. Kirch Wildlife Conservation Award.
That award is given annually to recognize Nevada residents or organizations for their work in conservation, management or enhancement of wildlife.
Anyone may submit a nomination for the award. Nominations can include an individual, non-profit organization, outdoor sports club or business.
The award will be determined by a judging committee that is comprised of wildlife commissioners, Nevada Department of Wildlife staff, county wildlife advisory boards and Marlene Kirch, who is the daughter of Wayne E. Kirch for whom the award is named.
Last year's winner was Larry Johnson of northern Nevada who won the award for his dedication to Nevada's wildlife, particularly bighorn sheep.
The necessary nomination forms may be obtained by contacting the Nevada Department of Wildlife, 1100 Valley Road, Reno, NV 89512.
They also can be obtained online at www.ndow.org.
The nomination deadline for 2004 is Nov. 15.
