Elaine Kranjack

A memorial service for Elaine Kranjack, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington. Mrs. Kranjack died Oct. 24, 2004, at home. She was born Dec. 29, 1922, in Wadsworth to Gus and Celia Conley Sheehan.

She graduated from Fernley High School in 1940.

She married Arthur J. "Dutch" Kranjack in 1942. During his time in the military service, she worked in San Francisco and Fresno, Calif. In 1952, she moved to Weed Heights.

Mrs. Kranjack worked for many years as a secretary, at Anaconda Copper until the mine closed, in Hawthorne at the ammunition depot then for the Internal Revenue Service, Legal Counsel until she retired. After her retirement, she was a secretary in the Lyon County Maintenance Shop.

She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star, Fernley Chapter and was once very active in Weed Heights/Yerington bowling leagues.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969; daughter, Cindy Menesini; sisters Myrtle Smith and Madge Schaub; sister-in-law Gwen Sheehan; and brothers Bob, Jim and Claude Sheehan.

Among her survivors are her son, Richard of Las Vegas; grandchildren Randy Menesini of Yerington and Diana Menesini Allen of Kings River; great-granddaughters Erica and Monica Menesini; brother Charles Sheehan of Camarillo, Calif.; sister-in-law Ada Sheehan of Reno; seven nieces and nephews; and son-in-law, Don Menesini.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or a charity of choice.

Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
