Children's museum fund-raiser offers chance to become a millionaire

Want to become a millionaire? The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada is sponsoring a $1 Million Hole-In-One Shootout today through Friday between 2 to 7 p.m. at the Empire Ranch Golf Course driving range.

The 20 players closest to the pin during the 25 hours of qualifying will meet at the No. 9 tee box at 1 p.m. Sunday. Each qualifier will have one shot to score a hole-in-one for the special par-3, 165- to 170-yard hole for the contest. This is the first time an event like this has been held in our area.

The Capital Insurance Golf Tournament is Friday at Silver Oaks. It is followed by a prime rib dinner at Mo and Sluggo's.

On Sunday, St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community presents a celebration of Nevada's Basque roots. Proceeds go to the youth group at the parish and the religious education program. Get on down to Fuji Park for a great day of cultural awareness, food, music and entertainment.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada is hosting a free event for ages 8-15, the Punt, Pass & Kick contest. Many current NFL players participated in Punt, Pass and Kick as youngsters. There are more than 6,000 local competitions at schools and 3,000-plus park and recreation centers nationwide during August and September.
