Vice president to visit Reno this week

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Vice President Dick Cheney will make a return visit to northern Nevada on Thursday, rounding out a parade of presidential campaign stops by both political parties this week.

Cheney is scheduled to attend a Republican National Committee rally Thursday afternoon at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, the GOP announced Monday.

It will mark Cheney's sixth visit to the Silver State, which has received unprecedented attention during this presidential election as both parties seek to win Nevada's five electoral votes.

President Bush is scheduled to be in Las Vegas on Tuesday to address about 3,000 officers attending the National Guard Association's annual convention.

It will be the president's third trip to Las Vegas this year.

Democratic nominee John Kerry accepted an invitation to address the group Thursday - his fourth trip to Las Vegas.

Kerry's running mate John Edwards was to appear late Monday for an afternoon rally at the University of Nevada, Reno.

His wife, Elizabeth Edwards, hosted a town hall forum on the Reno campus two weeks ago.
