RENO - The end of the summer driving season hasn't brought a drop in gasoline prices in Nevada.
The statewide average price for a gallon of self-serve unleaded was $2.05 on Wednesday, up a nickel since August, AAA Nevada said.
Typically, prices drop after the Labor Day weekend, when demand eases.
According to AAA's monthly price survey, the average price in Las Vegas, Carson City and Sparks was $2.02 a gallon - up 6 cents, 5 cents and 3 cents, respectively.
Reno had the highest average price of $2.07, an increase of 4 cents from last month.
The highest monthly increase was in Henderson, where the price rose 7 cents to $2.04.
Elko was the exception in the state. There, the average price fell a dime to $1.87, AAA said.
Nationally, the average dropped 2 cents to $1.84.
Though crude oil prices have been dropping after reaching nearly $50 a barrel last month, prices at the pump have been slow to respond, AAA said.
"If the price of crude oil continues to fall, consumers should expect lower prices," said Michael Geeser, AAA Nevada spokesman. "Motorists are eager for relief after months of volatility throughout the summer."
