Carson teen allegedly stabs girlfriend's father

A Carson City teen remained in juvenile detention Tuesday after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend's father during a scuffle Saturday.

According to a police report, the 17-year-old boy was at his Spooner Drive home when the 16-year-old girl's father showed up looking for his runaway daughter. Because of the teens' ages, their names are being withheld. The name of the father is also being withheld to protect the girl's identity.

When the father confronted his daughter, he and the boyfriend allegedly got into a "shoving match." The father then grabbed his daughter around her waist and attempted to carry her outside when the boy allegedly pulled a pocket knife. During the ensuing battle, the father received "three superficial lacerations to his back, right flank," reported Deputy Christopher Rivera.

The teens ran from the home and the girl, who suffers from asthma, was apprehended nearby, the report states. She was arrested on suspicion of being a juvenile runaway.

The boy, against whom the father had filed a restraining order, was found in a neighboring back yard. He was treated at Carson-Tahoe Hospital for a knife wound to his hand. The father refused treatment.

The boy was arrested on suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon and violation of a protection order.
